Chant the Quran
.......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
He is not of us who does not chant
nicely with the recitation of the Quran
(Bukhari)
Meaning of this Hadith
Chain here
refers to “tarteel” in Arabic word. It also means recite the Quran with measured
rhythmic tones,
(aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style. The hadith says “chant nicely”
means to recite the Quran the best one can do. Recitation must not be taken as
a light task. Indeed, one must try his level best and work equally hard towards
achieving this goal. For example, no screaming, no grunting, no speed reading.
Chain of Narrators
This
hadith was said by Prophet Muhammad s.a.w, then narrated by Abu Hurairah and
then compiled by Bukhari.
Besides
that, there were a few narrators who narrated this hadith. He is Saad ibn Abu
Waqas who narrated it from the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.
The
other one is from Ibn al-Qayyum who narrated this hadith from Prophet Muhammad
s.a.w
AbuLubabah
also was narrated this hadith from Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. Then it was heard by
Ubaydullah ibn Yazid from AbuLubabah.
Brief Account of
Narrator
Abu Hurairah was
a companion of the Prophet Muhammad and the narrator of Hadith most quoted in
the isnad by Sunnis. Next to him come the names of such companions as
Abdullah ibn Umar, Anas ibn Malik, Jabir ibn Abdullah and Abu Said al-Khudri
all of whom transmitted over a thousand sayings of Muhammad. His real name was
Abdul al-Rahman ibn Sakhr al-Azdi. Abu Hurairah was born in Baha, Yemen . His
father had died, leaving him with only his mother and no other relatives. His
name at birth was Abd al-Shams (servant of the sun). However, as a
child, he had a cat and became known as "Abu Hurairah" (which
literally means "Father of the Kitten" or more idiomatically "Of
the kitten"). A majority of the Sunni scholars consider Abu Hurairah to be
one of the major trustworthy narrators of Hadith. They believe that he was
blessed with an unfailing memory, a miracle from God that was bestowed upon him
after Islamic prophet Muhammad prayed for him. Abu Hurairah died in 681 at the
age of 78.
Lesson ~ Contemporary Issue
From this hadith
we know that, anyone who recite the Quran without the right way that is not
beautify the Quran with his voices, will be not admit by the Prophet Muhammad as
one of his ummah. So here, we can see that how important is to recite the Quran
according to rules of pronunciation, intonation, and caesuras established by
the Prophet Muhammad.
Nowadays, we can see
that how many people much more prefer to learn and know about music if compared
to learn and know about Quran study. They also were willing to memorize the
lyrics of the song rather than the ayah in the Quran. That is reality in our
life today. There were many programmes about music that teach people on how to
be good in singing than the programme that can help people to learn about Quran
study
